Construction contractors are being asked to deliver more work, faster, with fewer people. Skilled operators are harder to find, schedules are tighter and safety expectations keep rising. Crewline AI exists to help contractors keep building - without changing how they run their jobs.

Today, we’re announcing that Crewline AI has raised $5.5M in seed funding to expand the deployment of autonomous heavy equipment across U.S. earthworks job sites. The round was led by Initialized Capital (seed investor in 27 unicorns), with participation from Nebular, Ford Street Ventures, Cocoa Ventures, Begin Capital and over 20 founder-operators and construction-tech angels.

Built for How Contractors Actually Work

Crewline upgrades existing equipment with self-driving capability, starting with drum rollers, expanding to dozers, rock trucks, and excavators. Installation takes about 30 minutes, requires no permanent modification and fits directly into current workflows.

Machines operate autonomously for standard work, with trained remote operators stepping in instantly when conditions change. Contractors don’t have to re-staff, re-train or re-plan their jobs.

The result:

  • Major reduction in operator labor cost per machine

  • 99.9% uptime, even on complex, dynamic sites

  • No upfront CapEx and a simple monthly rate

  • 24/7 support with on-site Crewline staff as needed

  • A safety-first system designed for real job sites, not demos

Early Results

In under three months, Crewline went from prototype to live production sites, reaching $220K in ARR and building a $50M+ pilot pipeline with excavation and grading contractors across the U.S.

What contractors tell us is simple: they don’t want autonomy for its own sake. They want machines that run when people are short, jobs that stay on schedule and systems that don’t create new headaches.

What This Funding Enables

This round allows us to:

  • Deploy on more contractor job sites

  • Expand support coverage and remote operations

  • Continue improving autonomous performance for earthworks workflows

Our goal isn’t to replace crews, it’s to make the crews you have go further, safer and more reliably.

If you’re a contractor dealing with operator shortages or an engineer who wants to build technology that shows up on real job sites, we’d love to talk.
